Microsoft Intensifies Its Campaign Against Google's Chrome!!!!!!

Microsoft Intensifies Its Campaign Against Google's Chrome

Summary

Microsoft wants more Windows 10 users to browse the web with Edge.

Bing Rewards is now Microsoft Rewards. People can gain reward points through Bing and browsing the web using Edge.

The incentives from Microsoft Rewards is to help Microsoft grow its internet advertising business.

More people using Edge helps Microsoft grow its database of browsing/online shopping habits of individuals.

The U.S. internet advertising industry is a $68 billion/year arena currently dominated by Google and Facebook.

I am still long on Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT). I like how the management is still willing to do contra revenue to promote its non-hardware products. Nadella has upgraded its Bing Rewards to allow people to gain incentives by using its Edge Browser. Bing Rewards was renamed to Microsoft Rewards to reflect the expanded coverage.

Prior to this move, people were only able to gain reward points through the use of Bing and exploring daily offers from Microsoft. The new move will go a lot in improving Edge's competitiveness against Alphabet's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Chrome browser.

People will be more encouraged to use Microsoft Edge to gain rewards points, which they can exchange for discount vouchers like Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN)Gift cards.

Browsers are important tools that allows Google and Microsoft to track and collate the browsing and online shopping behavior of people. The more people using Edge, the better it will be for Microsoft's data mining activities. A bigger, more intensive database of people's online habits helps fortify Microsoft's internet advertising business

The chart below illustrates the expanded loyalty program from Microsoft Rewards. It is currently available only for U.S. residents. However, I think Microsoft will eventually have to expand Microsoft Rewards to help Edge browser compete better against Google's Chrome.
